A guide to booking

Hire Cover Bands in the United States

Most of what decides whether a booking runs smoothly is settled before the band arrives, and it depends on the room. Venues in the United States range from function suites with a house PA and a fixed curfew to marquees and outdoor terraces where everything has to be carried in, and the same five-piece behaves quite differently in each.

What the Venue Needs to Provide

A four or five-piece needs roughly 4 by 3 metres of flat, dry floor, more once a drum riser or a brass section is involved, plus two or three power sockets within reach of the stage area. Check the load-in route early, because stairs, a long carry from the car park, or a lift too small for a bass cabinet all add time, and some acts charge for it. Ask about a sound limiter before you commit to anything: a limiter set low will cut the power mid-song, and there is no way around it once you are there. Curfews work the same way, since an 11pm finish moves the whole running order earlier than most people expect.

Dates, Travel and Availability

Saturdays in peak season and the whole of December go first, often a year out, so the band you want can end up fixing your date rather than the other way round. Distance shows up on a quote as travel, and occasionally as accommodation when the finish time makes the drive home impractical. Friday and Sunday bookings widen the field considerably if the date is flexible. Ask what the travel figure covers, since some acts price it into the fee within a set radius and charge separately beyond it.

How Much a Cover Band Costs in the United States

Most bookings in the United States come in around $800 for two live sets, with duos and trios below that and larger lineups with brass or extra vocalists above it. What varies more than the headline figure is what sits inside it. Check what the quote covers: travel, a DJ set or playlist between sets, and how long the band plays in total rather than how many sets they perform. Most acts take a deposit to hold the date with the balance due close to the event, and overtime is normally charged in half-hour blocks, so agree the finish time in writing rather than on the night.

Photo of Kenneth Stone Mr Sax Kenneth Stone Mr Sax "Mr. Stone has a gift Mr. Stone has a gift that is God given. He played the saxophone during my Godfather’s memorial and it was beautiful. I wanted something that represented my Godfather, he loved jazz music and Mr. Stone delivered. I selected 1 song and he selected the other “ Jesus is the center of my joy” this was perfect. If you’re looking for a saxophonist I highly recommend Mr. Stone. Since then, we’ve followed them to Palo Alto, Campbell, and San Pedro Square. Their song list appeals to all ages. They played at our son’s wedding in Jamestown and the music was awesome!! The dance floor never slowed down, and we all had a blast! We can’t thank them enough for making our special day even more special." We had such a wonderful time having SoundBite at our wedding celebration! Not only were they very easy to talk to when planning the event together, but they put on an AMAZING show. I think we had just about everyone on the dance floor at one point. I’m so grateful we found SoundBite and were able to host them at our party. I will think of them every time we have another event or someone else does. 11/10 experience! I couldn’t ask for a better time!" We initially wanted a song or two and some photos, but he told us about his 30 minute wedding show and he really rocked the house. He did a great job at having me and my bride still being the center of it all, but brought the energy we wanted to get everyone on the dance floor. It's been about 3 weeks now, and our family and friends are still raving about what a great job he did and how much fun they had dancing with The King! Steve is a THE answer for your Las Vegas Elvis appearance!" Based in Las Vegas, Nevada 13th October 2026 Dan - Wedding

Frequently asked questions

The average cost of hiring cover bands is $800, with prices from $200 to $3,050+. Pricing is mainly driven by the number of band members, performance duration and whether the band supplies its own sound and lighting equipment. Cover bands range from small acoustic acts to large party bands, so the line-up and production level have the biggest impact on cost.

Many cover bands are happy to learn a specific song for a first dance or other special moment. To get the best results, make this request as early as possible, as some songs require additional rehearsal. Most bands will learn at least one special request at no extra charge.

Most cover bands are self-contained and provide their own PA system, instruments, amplifiers and stage lighting for standard event venues. For larger spaces or outdoor events, additional equipment may be required. It is a good idea to confirm all technical and staging details with the band before booking.

The cover bands for hire in the United States cover a huge range of genres including pop, rock, soul, funk, disco, indie, hip hop and current chart hits. Many cover bands specialise in a particular era or style, while others offer a broad mix designed to appeal to all ages and tastes. Browsing band profiles on Gig Heaven is the best way to find the right musical fit.

Hiring cover bands is one of the most popular entertainment choices for weddings, corporate events, birthday parties, festivals and private celebrations. A good cover band plays recognisable songs that get guests singing and dancing, making them a reliable option for events where a full dance floor is the goal.

Standard performance times for cover bands are two to three hours, usually split into two or three sets. Many function bands offer DJ or background music services between sets, and some can extend their evening with additional acoustic or DJ-only slots. Performance formats can usually be adjusted to fit the event schedule.
