Hailing from the vibrant music scene of Brisbane, The Gypsy Cats came together in 2016 and embarked on a musical journey that has seen them become a dominant force in Australia's gypsy jazz landscape.
The official lineup boasts the talents of Emma Hales on Double Bass, Rory Dollard on Lead Guitar, Mircha Mangiacotti on Rhythm Guitar, and Roberto Fontana on Trumpet.
The Gypsy Cats have meticulously curated a diverse repertoire that showcases their unique interpretation of the gypsy jazz genre. Their shows include infectious uptempo swing and enchanting gypsy bossa to heartfelt traditional jazz ballads and the romance of French waltz.

The Gypsy Cats started from a shared love of Django Reinhardt’s music and the gypsy jazz tradition. Since forming, we’ve played at festivals, jazz clubs, private events, and weddings all across Brisbane and beyond.
We’re inspired by Django Reinhardt, Stéphane Grappelli, and the great tradition of French gypsy jazz. One of our all-time favourites is Django’s ‘Minor Swing’ , a true classic that always lights up the room.
