About / Biography

Founded in early 2025 by current JMI up and coming drummer Lochlan Robinson, accompanied by the incredible Sharon Nobbs (trumpet/vocals), Lucius Reynolds (piano), and Isaac Worland (double bass).

Robin & Sons draws inspiration from artists of the 1950s and 60s including Art Blakey, Lee Morgan and Hank Mobley. If you love Straight Ahead Jazz with a side of hard bop then this one’s for you!

Robin & Sons offers the full quartet with occasional special guests, as well as offering duo and trio performances to suit all venues and occasions.

What are your basic technical requirements?

We require 2-3 parking spaces, minimum 2 power sockets. We will bring all required electrical equipment.


What information do you require about a venue?

Locations for loading in and out.


Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes we’re completely self contained.


Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

As a wedding band and jazz band we have played both large weddings and corporate events as well as small intimate jazz clubs and are comfortable will all things in between.


What's your favourite type of event?

We enjoy all venues however we love playing weddings!


What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

We started gigging whilst at university and our performances developed from there. Since we started we’ve performed at numerous weddings, parties, clubs and corporate events.


Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

As jazz musicians, it is hard to pick a single artist or a single song as our main influences, however, collectively we draw inspiration from people such as Lee Morgan, Wayne Shorter, Stan Getz, Herbie Hancock, and Mo-town heroes such as Marvin Gay.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Normally will arrive 1 hour before the performance to ensure time to set up.
Depending on the duration of the event we could take anywhere from 2-4 x 45 minute sets with 15 min breaks.


Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, as long as there is no danger to our equipment to do so.


Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Of course! We love to hear from our clients as to what they would like to hear. However if it is preferred, we can make executive decisions on what music.
