Review Centre: Rock 'n' Roll Bands

"Father’s Day Weekend with Joe and Gayle A plethora of high quality musical events greeted the mountain community on the long Father’s Day weekend. The weekend kicked off with the dynamite power trio, The Joe Ferraro Band, on the patio at Mountain High North on Saturday, June 17th. Forty-one vintage rock and blues offerings were delivered with high energy by Joe ( guitar and vocals) and the solid rhythm section of Phil Thomasson (bass) and Joe Faraci (drums). This veteran outfit featured vintage songs of Eric Clapton and Cream on “Badge”, “Outside Woman Blues”’, “Politician”, and “Strange Brew”. Joe Ferraro nailed the vocals and guitar artistry of arguably the best (“cream of the crop”) rock trio in history. The audience was treated to a fare by Howlin’ Wolf ((Spoonful; I ain’t Superstitious; Hootchie Cootchie Man)) and Ferraro’s own “Slewfoot”. Ferraro learned a thing or two from Albert King (“Crosscut Saw and Born Under a Bad Sign”);B.B.King (“Worried Life Blues”) and Freddie King (“I’m Tore Down”). The Fabulous Thunderbirds were well represented (“She’s Tuff” and “Tuff Enough”), as were Stevie Ray Vaughn (“Empty Arms” and “Mary Had a Little Lamb”). Want some Hendrix? How about “Stonefree and The Wind Cries Mary”? So many great songs played by Ferraro’s terrific group, if you closed your eyes, you would testify that Clapton had visited Wrightwood! "

"I really enjoyed working with Matt, who I booked to perform at a retail store event. There were a few mixups with the scheduled performances at the store, but Matt was very understanding and professional about it all which was very much appreciated! "We booked The Hound Dogs for our wedding on 1st September. It was a bit of a risk as we had never heard them play and found them whilst searching for a wedding band. However as soon as Nigel contacted us and then met us in person we knew we were in good hands. On the day, the guys were everything we wanted and more. They got everyone up dancing and were great musicians, as well as loads of fun. Everyone said they were fab! In between sets and afterwards Nigel provided DJ services until 1am and, even though it was a Monday night, there were still lots of people on the dance floor. He catered for our diverse requests - salsa tunes, funk and soul and latest dance tunes. Thanks guys, thoroughly recommend! Rachel and Nick xx"

"Amazing! Seriously, Greg did an amazing job! Everyone was very impressed with his talent. He isn't just an "impersonator"... his love and respect for the King shines through. He is pure talent and everyone at our Family Reunion was impressed. Several guests said his appearance to the real King was almost identical and his voice/singing voice was equally exquisite. Total professionalism and we feel lucky he was able to do our event. Thank you, Elvis!"

"We all had a wonderful night. The band were excellent playing exactly what we wanted, bringing back memories of the 60's. Within a few minutes of them starting to play the dance floor was full and stayed that way all night. The band members were friendly and could not do enough to make the experience perfect. At the end everyone was saying how good they were, so many compliments. We would definitely rebook if there is another occasion to allow us to do that. "

"We were lucky to have this fantastic music at our wedding, from the moment we arrived, with some background music while we welcomed our guests, to the DJ service during the party. We're not big fans of “typical” wedding music, but all we had to do was ask and send them some songs that were more to our taste, and they understood us right away. They were fantastic and everyone at the party, from the youngest to the oldest, got up and had fun. They were memorable, and everything went smoothly, without a hitch. Thank you so much for making our day so much more special!"

"I just recently played at a little wedding celebration - the happy couple and their toddler, and me with my little set up playing in the corner while they ate cake. Even the kid danced a little, and they had a good afternoon. Here is their review sent to Encore (who did the booking): Alex L, 1 hour ago Wedding in Blackfriars Priory, Ladybellegate St, Gloucester GL1 2HN, UKSean was our saxophonist for our elopement wedding and I can not fault him at all! He was so accommodating with our song requests/genre and even played a few songs for our toddler. Absolutely fantastic. The venue commented on how great he was and so did everyone we showed the videos to. Would 110% recommend and would love to have Sean again at another event. Thanks Sean! :)"
