The Jazz Kings Australia
"Friday 24th November 2023 - The Jazz Kings - Tweed Valley Jazz and Blues
A superb gig to bring a fitting close to a year of top-flight music. ‘The Jazz Kings’ left us in no doubt why they are currently rated among the top outfits on the North Coast. Each of them – Nicole Parker-Brown on vocals, Peter Uppman on vocals and trumpet (sometimes almost at the same time), Gordon Matheson on guitar, Col Atkinson on bass and yet more vocals, and Jose McLaughlin on keyboards – is an accomplished performer in their own right, and in combination they are a musical powerhouse to be reckoned with.
It was an evening of eclectic mix, from popular jazz standards, through blues arrangements that will be appearing on their latest album, to occasional dips into the classical realms, and a few nostalgic ‘pop’ reminiscences. Among the favourites were their own arrangements of evergreens such as ‘Night and Day,’ ‘All Of Me’, ‘Misty’, ‘Georgia On My Mind’ and ‘Making Whoopee’.
Jose even gave a nod towards his earlier career as keyboard player and musical director of ‘Gerry and the Pacemakers’ with his updated arrangements of ‘Ferry Cross the Mersey’ and ‘Don’t Let the Sun Catch You Crying’. All in all, a great end to 2023, and the Club Committee took time at the end to wish all members and visitors a happy and safe Xmas and a prosperous New Year. If it promises music of the same quality as this past year, then we’ll have no complaints."
World Renowned Saxophonist
"Thank you so much!! The performance was absolutely brilliant, exactly what we have been looking for, we really love it. Everything is just perfect!"
Ken Weiner | Jazz 🎷
"Ken and his trio were excellent. Their playing really helped make the night. Highly recommended!"
Dan Olivo - Jazz, Swing, Big Band & Pop
"Dan and his band was amazing
I threw my wife a surprise 10 year cancer remission party and found Dan Olivo on GigSalad. Soon as I talked to him I knew he was the right person for this special event. He definitely provided a memorable night and was the highlight of the party. I would recommend him without any reservations and can't wait to see him perform again."
Good Co
"We hired Good Co for our 1920's themed holiday party. They were extremely flexible and accommodating, especially when we asked if they would follow our leadership around the office as they gathered people for the party. Awesome talent, great at judging sound vs space. Our office is pretty echo-y and loud, but they found the right balance immediately. Definitely keeping on the books for next time!"

"Client Review:
"One of the most magical parts of our wedding was the music — and we owe that entirely to this incredible jazz ensemble. We were looking for something very specific: not another dance set (we had a DJ for that), but a warm, classy jazz atmosphere for the first part of our celebration — during the ceremony and the cocktail hour. What we received exceeded every expectation."
"From the very first contact, communication was smooth and professional. We requested a jazz trio and asked if it would be possible to add a saxophonist for that extra depth. Not only was it possible — the result was beyond beautiful. The group performed a selection of jazz standards we had personally chosen together in advance. They played them with such elegance, heart, and authenticity, it felt like we were in a Parisian jazz bar or a New York club — not on a seaside terrace in Bodrum!"
"Our guests were blown away. Many of them said they had never expected to hear such genuine, high-quality jazz in Turkey, and certainly not at a wedding. The saxophone added a soulful touch that made the whole set feel intimate and luxurious at once."
"We can't thank this wonderful group enough. Their performance added soul and style to our special day in a way we will never forget. It wasn't just background music — it was an experience."
