Photo of The Gumbo Gumbas The Gumbo Gumbas "New Orleans is a state-of-mind. Every year around this time of year, Mardi Gras is an explosion of joyousness. You don't have to travel down to Louisiana to feel it. Its spirit resides in Mercer County in a little town called Ewing, where Joe Grillo leads The Gumbo Gumbas on a Cajun holiday all year round. The jump-blues, zydeco, rocl'n'roll, jazz, folk strains and oh such soul are on full display wherever they play. Now you can even share that feeling, that zest for life, that passionate embodiment of the groove, in your own home. Zydeland has to be the feel-good album of the year so far. Written, arranged, produced, sung and honked on his tenor sax, Grillo imbues Zydeland with a Bourbon Street beat. He's an honorary French Quarter denizen of the night. Of course, there's always time to invoke a little Tom Waits on highlight "Can't Go Back to New Orleans" The colors mix and mingle with tuba, banjo, guitar, violin, viola, cello, trombone, accordion, piano, bass, clarinet, soprano sax, trumpet and that penetration percolation percussion. Excuse me, I got to get on up and do the boogaloo. You just can't set still for this thing." They are all the nicest of people and amazingly talented musicians and vocalists. They performed at our wedding, including acoustic music while we walked down the aisle and during the cocktail hour and then they rock and rolled for dinner. They gave us a huge set list that we could choose from which they played and also added to. Everyone enjoyed them so much. People were dancing all night. They really made our wedding a special event. This is not an ordinary wedding band. This is a group of great musicians that played at our wedding. We can’t thank them enough. Frequently asked questions

The average cost of hiring jazz bands is $650, with prices from $180 to $2,250+. The main cost factors are the number of musicians in the band, performance duration and the style of jazz. Jazz groups range from duos and trios to large swing orchestras, and line-up size has the biggest impact on price.

The jazz bands for hire cover a wide range of styles including swing, bossa nova, gypsy jazz, smooth jazz, bebop and New Orleans-style jazz. Some groups also perform jazz-influenced pop or Rat Pack classics. To get the best results, listen to audio samples on each band's profile to find the right style for your event.

Hiring jazz bands is a versatile choice for many types of events. They are especially popular for wedding receptions, cocktail hours, corporate functions, private parties and gala dinners. Jazz works well as background music during dining or drinks, and can also be the featured entertainment where a more sophisticated atmosphere is desired.

On Gig Heaven, jazz bands are available in a variety of sizes, from duos and trios up to full big band ensembles of 15 or more musicians. A smaller group such as a trio or quartet is ideal for intimate settings and lower budgets, while a larger ensemble can fill bigger venues with a richer, more dynamic sound.

Most jazz bands are self-contained and bring their own amplification for smaller to mid-sized venues. Acoustic jazz groups may not need any amplification at all for intimate settings. For larger venues, additional PA equipment may be required. It is worth discussing sound requirements with the band before booking.

Many jazz bands are skilled at adjusting their volume and energy to suit different parts of an event. They can provide subtle background music during dinner and then shift to a more upbeat, danceable set for the evening party. It is a good idea to discuss the event flow with the band so they can plan their sets accordingly.
