Review Centre: One Man Bands

"Rev Ferriday's musical past dates back to the late 1980s, with Indie rock band Loop but it was only in 2012 when his first solo album appeared. The follow-up is all set to be released on 21 October.With bluesy harmonica well to the fore, deep vocals and general grungy feel, Nine Beats presents nine slices of down 'n' dirty blues, described in the publicity blurb as inhabiting a place ''somewhere between Johnny Cash and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.'' On close inspection, I'd say the description is not a million miles from the truth. The sound reminds me of other artists too, such as Ian Siegal (especially from his Revelator era).Mostly, the pace is uptempo, with a rock feel, but there is room for the occasional step into the world of more traditional blues, such as10/6.Catchy riffs abound; it's all toe-tappingly good stuff with simple enough arrangements that were presumably designed to be played live.Stand out tracks: Moonshine, Nine Beats."

"Stéphan, un musicien talentueux, distingué et dynamique! J'ai eu la joie d'engager Stéphan comme saxophoniste pour mes 70 ans le 2 août 2025 lors d'un souper de fête entre amis chez moi. J'ai observé que Stéphan est passionné par sa musique et son instrument saxophone qu'il maîtrise à merveille avec une enthousiasme qui est contagieuse. Il nous avais offert une liste de choix et nous lui avons proposé certaines chansons aussi. Un beau mariage de slow et rythmes pour danser. Stéphan possède un sens élevé d'observation de l'environnement et des activités qui se passent autour de lui et sais s'ajuster pour se synchroniser avec vous et offrir le meilleur impact possible. Avoir Stéphan qui joue son saxophone pour une soirée est une vraie bénédiction. Nous avons eu tellement de plaisir à l'écouter et à s'amuser. "I had an awesome annual 4th of July party on the lake with a big group of my friends! We knew we needed some live music for the event and Adam was the perfect person to do it. He knows how to play to the audience. He plays music that most people know, but it's not too main stream. He also plays his own originals which are very well done. He brings all his own equipment and is very professional and courteous. He asks if there's any requests for songs and tries to accommodate. He keeps the crowd engaged but doesn't take over the event that is your own. I had people walking past trying to come in like it was a public event. I definitely recommend him!"
