Review Centre: Ukulele Players

"Coordinated with Ricky who arranged to have Uncle Jack play at our Luau in east Long Beach (near CSULB). This was a small group (9) so there was no need for amplifiers, speakers, etc. Jack was the ideal player: he arrived early, played wonderful low-key background music while we dined and he ramped it up as we enjoyed his playing after dining but before diving into dessert. Jack was everything we asked for: personable, he interacted with our guests warmly, answered questions about the ukelele and Hawaiian music, gave us a wonderful blend of "old, original" Hawaiian style music and the newest iterations of the genre. like "Jawaiian"-style. He was most generous with his time. We could tell that he truly enjoyed playing this traditional music which he grew up with and it showed. He "felt" and genuinely "was" the music ... he was not someone who just learned a few chords and melodies and sang. If you are planning on Hawaiian-style entertainment for any event, I highly, highly recommend Uncle Jack."

"I'm so glad we booked Denis for my mums 80th party, it absolutely made our day. Not only did everyone love the music, Denis had taken the time to think about what age my mum would have been on each song and walked us through her years hitting milestones such as her 18th and 21st etc. It was such a great touch. "We booked the distance for several shows at Shaw Hill golf and spa hotel for Christmas 2015. What a fantastic group! The guests loved them the energy was amazing and songs out of this world they obviously spent time putting together a solid song to ensure a wide ranging audience was kept entertained. We look forward to welcoming them back again sometime. Michelle"

"I have to admit that before the St Leonard's Festival I had never even heard of Tania Pieri, so I didn't know what to expect when she walked out on to the stage with her amazing bright red hair. There were a couple of technical hitches at the start (their fault, not hers!), but she handled them calmly and professionally. Tania is a great all round performer, I really enjoyed her singing, playing and dancing. Even after her performance she was out in the crowd supporting the other acts, something that is sadly quite rare these days. This may have been my first time at a performance by Tania Pieri, but I definitely hope it's not my last and will keep listening out for other events she will be involved with. Very highly recommended!"

"Thanks to Surefire Trio for a great night. When we spoke in the build up to the wedding, I mentioned that our guests had a wide range of musical taste but you guys were brilliant and the toughest critic of all (our 6yr old) loved every minute. We appreciate how you made the evening complete and all the support in the build up. I could not recommend the band highly enough."

"VInce was super talented and amazing! He sang for our daughter's first luau and put on a great show. He showed up an hour early to set up, and made our announcements in between his set. Not only was he a great MC for our event, but he was able to accommodate our other hired performers by playing their tracks as they danced. Vince was easy to work with and communicated clearly in his email and calls. We will definitely be using his service again! Mahalo! "

Gary was so personable and easy to communicate with from the very start which was so greatly appreciated in the run up to the wedding! "Stephen was patient with me as I was planning a memorial service for my father. I changed my mind a couple of times and Stephen just rolled with the changes. He met my wife for a rehearsal session and then nailed the performance during the ceremony. Stephen also provided some lovely and background and mood music prior to the service and jumped-in with musical accompaniment during the congregational hymns."

"Bruddah Vince is a dream! I contacted Bruddah Vince just a few days before our retirement party at a large estate in Beverly Hills, when another performer I had originally hired dropped out at the last minute. What could have been a disaster turned out to be a blessing, as Bruddah Vince was extremely easy, professional, and pleasant to work with, and he provided the perfect vibes we were seeking. His dreamy voice, expert ukulele playing, and great song selection added so much beauty to our night. We all felt transported to the islands for a few hours, and the party would not have been the same without him. He was very agreeable to every request, including taking a Covid test upon arrival, which we really appreciated since some of our guests are high risk."
